Silhouette eyewear makes some of the most lightweight, comfortable and yet durable glasses in the world. Many of their frames partially contain titanium. Titanium is a strong, yet lightweight metal. It’s used for parts on the space shuttle and for fighter jets. If the temple arm on your Silhouette rimless glasses are broken, they can be repaired. There are two metal prongs going through the lens that attach the temple. The break will commonly be at the arch of the temple leg at the hinge. This is a common break on Silhouette frameless, hinge-less glasses. The hinge free design is splendid one because there are no screws that ever need tightening. However, the constant flexing of the temple arm can sometimes cause it to break. Get started on your Silhouette glasses repair today!
Here’s another Silhouette frame. This model has traditional hinges with screws. If your rimless glasses look like the ones pictured below, we can likely fix it.
Sometimes one or both of the metal prongs going through the lens will break. This type of break can also usually be fixed by welding it back together.
Eyeglass frames made with titanium cost a bit more to repair as titanium is needed to repair breaks and is a more costly material. Please see our pricing guide. Silhouette frames can be pricey. With prescription lenses, they can go from $600 dollars and even up to $1,000 or more for a pair with progressive lenses and anti-glare coatings. The above frame was sent to us with a broken temple. We replaced both temples with clone, titanium temples that matched the original color. These non-OEM temples work just as well as the originals and are more affordable. For hingeless, Silhouette glasses, we used to reattach the original, broken temple, but they often cause breakage around the repaired area, so we now replace both temple arms in theses cases.
